The False Fan
The auxiliary craft identifies an Underworld structure that replicates Deep City’s giant fan towers—yet it may never have operated.
The auxiliary craft of Expedition EX306pA-QW has completed its inspection of the collapsed structure located within the region identified by the decrypted Ilghal codes as the Underworld.
Geometric analysis confirms an almost perfect match with the three colossal fan towers distributed throughout the main cavern. This newly discovered structure, however, is considerably smaller and now lies collapsed and partially buried beneath the radioactive sludge.
Spatial reconstruction strongly suggests that it did not originally belong in the Underworld. Instead, it appears to have once been suspended within the central space enclosed by Deep City’s four massive blocks before crashing down during the city’s collapse.
Yet the most unsettling observation has emerged once again.
Neither this replica nor the three giant towers display functional ductwork, propulsion systems, mechanical wear, or any other evidence consistent with decades of operation. From an engineering standpoint, nothing indicates that these enormous fans ever moved air.
If they never moved air…
…perhaps they were never fans.
Their commanding presence within Deep City’s architecture implies a critical purpose, yet that purpose remains unknown. Every new piece of evidence distances us from the most obvious explanation and brings us closer to the possibility that these monumental structures were designed for something entirely different.
