Dear colleagues,
The auxiliary shuttle has completed the mapping of Deep City’s third collapsed sector.
The earliest recovered Ilghal fragments described this region as the Underworld, an extensive depression covered by a dense radioactive slurry where, according to those ancient reconstructions, much of the city’s collapsed superstructure ultimately came to rest.
Our current observations closely match those descriptions.
The third sector remains partially submerged beneath this highly contaminated layer. None of the identified structures exhibit residual energy emissions, unlike several elements previously documented outside Deep City during the expedition’s initial stages.
Nor have we detected any biological signatures or evidence of recent activity.
For the first time, we can classify an entire sector as completely inert.
The simultaneous absence of both residual energy and biological activity makes this area an ideal candidate for reconstructing Deep City’s pre-collapse architecture without interference from still-functioning systems.
The newly acquired three-dimensional models will now be integrated with the surveys from the previous sectors, expanding our global reconstruction of Deep City and allowing direct comparison with the earliest reconstructions derived from the Ilghal archives.
Each newly mapped sector reduces the margin of uncertainty.
At the same time, it makes the scale of what happened here even more apparent.
