Mapping the Abyss: Ørbital confirms the collapse of Deep City’s suspended structures and detects an active energy source deep within the megacity.

The auxiliary craft has begun the first phase of a systematic survey of the inner faces of the four megablocks that make up Deep City. Our immediate objective is to reconstruct the city’s original geometry and verify the hypotheses derived from the Ilghal fragments recovered to date.

The first datasets confirm that the massive structures depicted as suspended in the central void by previous Ilghal reconstructions no longer occupy their original positions. They have collapsed and now lie partially submerged in a dense radioactive slurry covering much of the chamber floor.

Within the main block, we have detected an active energy source. Its output is incompatible with the centuries that have elapsed since the Collapse and appears to indicate a still-functional route into the block’s interior. Everything suggests that someone—or something—intended to guide passage toward the heart of Deep City.

We have also identified cubic structures partially buried beneath the radioactive slurry. Their geometry matches the cubic constructions previously documented outside the city, near the primary entrance to Deep City, suggesting a common architectural function distributed across multiple levels.

Finally, this new perspective requires us to revise one of our principal interpretations. The structures we previously identified as access docks are now more convincingly explained as observation platforms overlooking the immense central space enclosed by the four suspended megablocks.

The expedition will continue the complete survey of all four inner faces before authorizing any penetration into the energetically active sectors.
